The rise in popularity of Pinoy Hip-hop over the last few years has been undeniable. Newer and more prominent artists alike have continuously been making waves across major music and video streaming platforms, offering fresh takes on Hip-hop’s sound. Exploring electronic beats, unique new rhythms, and lyricism that calls out to its listeners, Pinoy Hip-hop continues shaping up to be the genre of this new generation.

Joining the movement, Widescope Entertainment continues its mission to discover great Original Pilipino Music with its new division, Bandido Rekords. This new division aims to give rising Hip-hop artists the means and the guidance to navigate the genre’s constantly evolving landscape. Like its namesake, Bandido Rekords seeks success by embracing the out-of-the-box and modern ideals of the Hip-hop community.

Led by the label’s new A&R executive, Paulo Golding, or more commonly known as “King Promdi” in the streets, Bandido Rekords is definitely in great hands. Joining a team of OPM legends, Golding also brings his impressive audience and a refreshing point of view of the modern Hip-hop scene to the table. His widely successful hit “Walwal,” which he released with the VVS collective in 2019, has garnered a whopping 29 million views on YouTube and 23 million streams on Spotify.

Golding’s success was built on years of hard work and a true passion for Hip-hop that started as early as the age of twelve. He shares that over the years, he’s had a front-row seat to Pinoy hip-hop’s evolution and that he’s excited to be helping other up-and-coming artists reach a bigger audience as an A&R executive. In this modern age, he says Hip-hop isn’t just on the streets anymore. The rising popularity of various social media platforms has allowed artists to boost their visibility and grow their audience, not just locally but even internationally.

It’s this shift that has allowed more and more artists to break into the mainstream, collaborate, and even release their original music for their fans. Such is the case with Bandido Rekord’s debut act, Soultary. The group consists of Mirikle, Keyaru, L Frost, and Liens, who met serendipitously online through a Facebook collective. Seeing each other’s passion and shared love for the EmoTrap genre, the four quickly became friends and started working together.

Their first official release, “Ayusen” is an emotionally charged and honest take on the difficulties of deciding whether a relationship’s still worth fixing or it’s finally time to walk away. Catchy, upbeat, and with a hook that easily resonates with listeners, Soultary’s “Ayusen” isn’t one you want to miss! Out now on through various music streaming platforms!

Stay tuned to find out more about the latest and greatest from the Pinoy music scene.
