A surprising new addition to Widescope Entertainment’s growing roster of artists is the New Zealand-based duo, Tim Allen and The Two.
Based in Preston Lancashire, singer-songwriter Tim Allen has been a successful solo artist since 2008, having released well-received recordings (two EPs, two full-length albums and several singles) and has performed all over the world including the Philippines. His latest studio album, The Last Bastion Of A Lad was released last year and while touring to promote it, recruited session drummer and accomplished musician Freddie Green.
Together they joined forces to form Tim Allen and The Two and recently released their new single, “Love is a pill.” A soaring, high octane tune that’s characterized by a big booming sound and instantly memorable chorus with an unmistakable garage band feel, “Love is a pill” is an exciting and powerful preview of better things to come from this exciting duo.
“If a pill is a remedy then love is a remedy so love is a pill,” Tim said in describing the song. To promote the new song, Tim Allen and The Two will embark on a tour of Music Planet stores in New Zealand and play a total of 11 evening shows and six matinee acoustic sets.
“We expect have lots of fun and meet new people as well as the new bands who will be supporting us. Hopefully, we can create a solid foundation for the upcoming Album. At the same time, we are also concerned that at any moment we could be back to lockdown and put all our hard work over the last few months to waste,” Tim mused.
In signing with Widescope Entertainment, Tim said Widescope Music & Entertainment Director Neil Gregorio, who he met when he first toured the Philippines, was instrumental in hooking him up with the fledgling label.
As for what to expect from Tim Allen and The Two for the rest of 2021, Tim said he and Freddie are planning to record their next album and their next single to be co-written by UK songwriting legend Henry Priestman and to be produced by six66 bassist Chris Mac.
And yes, going back to the Philippines is a big part of the duo’s post-pandemic plans.
“We would love to come back to the Philippines as this is the home of our label and some good friends,” Allen concluded.
