Facing fears, reaching dreams: How Tania has thrived from Graphic Designer to Junior Art Director

Widescope Advertising Agency

Fears can stand in the way of dreams. Since Tania Nolasco didn’t let fright hinder her from forging her path, her journey has now turned into a success story.

Twenty-one-year-old Tania commenced her Widescope career in August 2018. Although she majored in advertising, she wasn’t certain about entering the industry since she believed it would be challenging. Moreover, as a fresh graduate, she immediately felt intimidated during her interview. While riddled with hesitations, she was still accepted as a Graphic Designer because of her talents and capabilities that Widescope recognized.

As she began working at Widescope, Tania noticed how excellent the creative outputs of her peers were. While this discovery added pressure to her, she overcame this negative perception by striving her best and seeking help from colleagues, who later turned into friends. With a fun, supportive environment, she was able to find her drive.

Through her grit and brilliance, she has proven herself to be an invaluable asset to Widescope. Twenty-four-year-old Tania has been in this agency for three years now, maintaining her high-quality outputs, inspiring determination, and admirable work ethic. She describes her daily life as a Graphic Designer as a roller coaster ride. “I’ve thrived riding the ups and downs, still learning how to deal with both, trying to keep pace with work every day.”

Seeing how well Tania manages her tasks, many people wonder how she attains excellence all the time. Her answer is simple but packed with truth and resolve: she wants to show everyone what she’s capable of and sets the standards high for herself. “Just be your own cheerleader, beat the person you were yesterday, and enjoy the process,” she reckons. “It’s basically having the right or that goal-oriented mindset for me.”

Another factor that inspires her to do well is the creative aspect. She shares how this motivates her to be better: “The constant learning that comes with it keeps me inspired. No matter how big or small a project is or even if it seems repetitive sometimes, it still matters. Finding a creative fix for every project I encounter and seeing the magic that comes with it is really inspiring for me.”

Tania jokes that deadlines are great motivational factors in accomplishing tasks, too. Smart, imaginative, and humorous – she remains unstoppable. However, her growth doesn’t mean that self-doubts no longer visit her. She still questions her abilities from time to time, but she has learned how to face her confidence issues because of her support system at work. Knowing that the whole team believes in her, she bounces back stronger in moments of uncertainty.

Since she’s well-equipped with skills and encouraging peers, she can deliver all her projects efficiently. While she considers every task an accomplishment, her greatest achievement is being entrusted to mentor a fellow designer. She shares that seeing growth and improvement is overwhelming. “It’s an amazing feeling,” she says fondly. “It makes me want to strive to become better, knowing I, too, can make a difference.”

Because of this consistent development Tania has exhibited, Widescope believes that she’s now ready for greater heights and responsibilities. As of July 2021, she has been promoted to Junior Art Director. Overwhelmed, she expresses her thoughts on her new role, “I’m really excited about this opportunity.” She also looks forward to utilizing her skills to positively contribute to the team, striving to make a visible impact.

Looking back, Tania has been through so much – from a fresh graduate who was intimidated by working in the advertising industry to a Junior Art Director who is ready to excel, adapt, and lead. Since she knows how difficult stepping out of the comfort zone is, she wants to impart what she has learned:

“For the aspiring creatives out there, don’t let fear hold you back from doing or creating something. Start somewhere at least, start something today. Give it a try. The real gap really is between doing nothing and doing something. Have more experiences and interactions with life around you, get the best out of it. Create something that you enjoy, not something you’re under contract to.”

Widescope has been a first-hand witness of her progress and has always been proud of her. Congratulations, Tania! It’s a joy to be with you!
