Today’s creative landscape has undoubtedly taken a digital turn. As the world’s appetite for digital content continues to rise, it’s no surprise that Widescope’s Rank1 Digital team continues to strive to stay ahead of the curve. Producing digital content that not only visually surpasses the mark but also enriches experiences in the online world takes a certain kind of creativity and work ethic. Rank1 Digital’s Maricar Farinas and Sharmayne Manito perfectly embody the wits needed to understand the everchanging landscape of digital as they embark on their journeys as Digital Multimedia Managers.
Maricar Farinas joined Widescope in 2018 as a Multimedia Designer and worked her way up the ladder to be a leader amongst some of the most creative minds in the field. When discussing her success, she pays special tribute to mentors she’s gained along the way and just how far you can get when you’re constantly pushing yourself to do better. She shares: “I’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of amazing mentors as I continue to evolve. You take all of their advice and keep learning with each project, and eventually, I found myself evolving into something of my own. I found myself naturally pushing to always create work that gets that nod of approval from my mentors.”
However, her incredible work ethic and determination aren’t just limited to the four walls of the office. Farinas also shares how she put in the time and effort to continue to study, practice, and perfect her skills. She shares: “All of my seniors at the time worked so fast, and it really pushed me to step up my game. It was definitely a lot of late nights studying and practicing after work, but it’s all been worth it. It’s something I still do to this day whenever I’m learning something new. I know myself well enough to know that I won’t be happy with my work until I get to the level that I want it at, and I work hard to get it there.” Farinas has proven that she isn’t someone to shy away from hard work. A trait she shares with Manito, who also just set out on her journey as a Digital Multimedia Manager.
Sharmayne Manito also joined Widescope in 2018 after a close friend from the company encouraged her to join the agency. What she initially perceived as a run-of-the-mill organization quickly showed that there’s more than meets the eye. When open communication, dynamic creativity, and meaningful professional relationships are encouraged daily, it creates an environment that produces incredibly unique ideas. Looking back at her past experiences with the team, she shares: “I think the digital team as whole shares the same goals. To produce work that we can all be proud of. We trust each other and have a willingness to correct each other’s mistakes and have each other’s backs. Working with a team this talented is the best learning experience you’ll ever have, and I’m grateful to be taking on the role of Digital Multimedia Manager for the team.”
Though Farinas and Manito might not necessarily work side by side on projects, they’re undoubtedly arm-in-arm when it comes to their work ethics and showing their gratitude with their respective mentors. Manito shares: “A lot of what we are today is because of our mentors, and I’d like to do them justice. They worked really hard to keep up with new and emerging digital landscapes and guide us on the trends as artists. Now, as a manager, I feel like I’m more aware of the trends myself and keep up with them as well.” In an era where content can get pretty overwhelming, taking the time to understand which trends are fleeting and which of them give you an actual glimpse of the market helps both the team’s the creative and strategic sides. They say that a rising tide elevates all ships and these two phenomenal ladies are undoubtedly in for an incredible digital ride.
As they navigate these unchartered waters as Digital Multimedia Managers together, Farinas and Manito have certainly set out on an exciting path. On behalf of the Widescope family, congratulations again, Marg and Sha!
