Dive into Soultary’s latest track, “Blocked”
Bandido Rekords’ break-out artist Soultary is back on the airwaves with their new single, “Blocked.” The group, which came together just in February of 2022, is best known for its unique sound and creative blend of the Emo and Trap genre. Their debut single “Ayusen” gave birth to hip hop label Bandido Rekords while delivering a modern trap twist to the classic post-break-up narrative.
While relatively new to working together, Soultary’s Mirikle, Keyaru, L Frost, and Liens have definitely formed strong ties with their shared drive to tell stories through their music; forged superbly under King Promdi’s mentorship. Mirikle and L Frost share how music has been a great outlet for them whenever they’re struggling or feeling down. Taking all that uncertain energy and turning it into something that listeners can relate to somehow makes the difficult times easier to bear.
Soultary’s masterful genre mix of emo and trap is the perfect avenue to provide listeners with a powerful sound that feels both modern and nostalgic. This latest release, “Blocked,” features verses that describe the push and pull in relationships that everyone knows all too well and adds a relevant social media twist. Heavily inspired by their young adult experiences, each member of Soultary brings their unique perspectives to the track.
Mirikle, Keyaru, L Frost, and Liens each write their own verses that come together seamlessly as they all collaborate to shape their different experiences into a track that hopefully resonates with listeners. Lines like “Naka block sa FB pati IG ano pa, ‘di na naguusap ano gusto mo pa ba?” and “Ikaw naman ang isip palagi, naliligaw, hirap ka hanapin” showcase how difficult it can be to communicate despite all the platforms available online today.
Mirikle also shares that their shared love for the Emo-Trap genre largely stems from the power behind the genre’s intricate lyricism, stating, “Dahil mabilis ung mga kanta minsan di kaagad gets ung message, pero pag napakinggan talaga ung lyrics, it helps people find a way to connect or relate sa artists, ung feeling na di sila nagiisa.” Making music that’s meant to help listeners feel less alone has taken their seemingly isolating experiences provide opportunities to be there for their audience.
“Blocked” is a definite must-listen to anyone looking for a song that delivers a killer beat and incredible lyrics. The track treads the line between modern and nostalgic so smoothly it’ll have listeners hooked from the first verse.
