Independent singer-songwriter Jam Quijano is expanding his musical horizons as he becomes the latest artists to join Widescope Entertainment’s increasing stable of formidable musicians.

Known for his songs about life, tragedy and everything in between, Jam has been steadily developing his solid fan base in the alternative music scene for quite a while now. As word of mouth about him and his music continues to rapidly spread, he himself was surprised to be invited to be part of the Widescope family that now includes both established and promising artists like Sitti, 46 Hope St., Noel Mendez, the New Zealand-based tandem, Tim Allen and The Two and of course, celebrated singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel, who also acts as the label’s Artist & Repertoire Manager.

“Not once in my life did I think I would get signed to a label,” Jam enthused. “I always felt like my songs didn’t fit the mold of mainstream music. To my surprise, this opportunity suddenly knocked on my door. I signed because I wanted to do it for experience. I wanted to learn about the music industry and its moving parts. Also, this was a great opportunity to be able to work with other professional musicians I admired so signing wasn’t that hard of a decision to make.”

For his debut single under Widescope, Jam has released the compelling acoustic ballad, “Bribe My Heart.” A song about moving on after falling out of love, Jam sings from the soul as he infuses the song with thoughtful lyrics about saying goodbye to someone who once meant a lot to him.

“There’s no point in keeping, what’s not for me, ‘cause I know the feelings are gone… I know now, I can’t bribe my heart, to fake something real, and feel what I used to feel…” Jam sings with heartfelt sensitivity in his trademark tenor vocals.

Talking about “Bribe My Heart” which he describes as “an anti-love song,” Jam said “it’s about breaking someone’s heart in the healthiest, kindest way possible.”

“It’s about being in a crossroad and whatever path you choose, you’ll end up hurting the other person. I’m young and this may sound naive, but I truly believe saying the truth, though it may not look like it at first, will result in the best possible outcome for everyone. That’s what ‘Bribe My Heart’ is about for me,” Jam further explained.

Aside from “Bribe My Heart,” Jam said fans can expect more from him this year now that he’s officially a Widescope artist.

“I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. I never really think about genres when I write music but if there’s a chance for collaboration or exploring different genres, I’m open to it. As a creative, I think that’s one of the most important skills – keeping an open mind to things,” he assured.
